Wii Zumba Fitness

Zumba is dance, Zumba is exercise, Zumba is fun and Zumba is craze that is sweeping the fitness world. A combination of latin rhythms coupled with a samba style exercise routine Zumba is definitely the latest craze in the “get fit” market. And it’s easy to see why because it’s such fun. You’ll find that you get totally wrapped up in the music and consequently you forget you’re doing pretty tough exercise!

So, you get fit while enjoying dancing away to the amazing latin rhythms!

And with the release of Zumba on the Wii, Wii Zumba Fitness brings the fun and fitness into your own living room!

Wii Zumba Fitness is by Majesco Entertainment and was released to the world on 18th November 2010, good holiday season timing! And I guess you have to applaud Majesco for being so quick into the Zumba market with a very good game. Although if you look at the fact there are 6 million global partcipants then it really not surprising that someone should want to try and “plug in” to that success. I also believe the massive success Dance 2 and Michael Jackson may well have contributed to the decision as well…and I can only see Wii Zumba Fitness following suit and being another huge dance game success.

And what a game it is…fun and fitness at the same time, it’s got to be a sure fire winner!

So a quick overview of Wii Zumba Fitness. In short it’s a dancing program but definitely with a diffrence. All of the music featured is Latin, so samba, lambada, salsa, cha cha etc. However the slight difference is that Zumba mixes these traditional latin moves with some street dance moves. Along with the pulsating rhythms it’s a hypnotic mix – you simply can’t help wanting to move to the beat!

I’ve absolutely no doubt this game is going to mirror the success of Zumba and be a huge global hit. And, I think the main reason for that is that it takes the pain away from exercise and makes it fun.

All that dancing is definitely hard work, you get a heart is pumping sweat on! But that pain that you feel on the treadmill or when running just isn’t there. I’m sure when you’ve pushed yourself really – it hurts! But with Wii Zumba Fitness the pain just melts away! Probably because the music and movement produce an incredible natural high that seems to take away the pain of the exercise “burn”. So, it’s just great fun to exercise and burn that fat at the same time!

I have no doubt this is why Zumba is so hugely popular and growing by the day. And now you can enjoy the same exprience in your living room with Wii Zumba Fitness.

So, what about the game? The on-screen dancer shows you all the Zumba moves and teaches you as you progress. All you do is follow her and once you have got your first moves right further moves are introduced. These gradually get tougher and more technical until you have a complete routine worked out.

Your moves are “monitotred” by the Wii Sensor and are highlighted by a color coding on the screen mistakes are highlighted by a red or orange light.

One real outstanding feature is that Majesco have added moves to Wii Zumba Fitness that are totally unique to the game. It would have been so easy to just have standard moves, but they have gone out of their way to make the game different, and I like that.

Wii Zumba Fitness also includes the now traditional multi player mode and it’s great fun to learn and progress, and get fit, with your partner. You can, of course, make it competitive if you wish, but hey we’re talking fitness fun here not a fight!

Released in November 2010, Wii Zumba Fitness is great for burning off all that holiday food and drink, but it’s just brilliant fun too, especially if you want to dance your way to fitness!
