What You Should Do If You Need To Install A Graphics Card On Your Computer
Installing a new graphics card is something that you will have to do if you are going to upgrade your computer so that it can play some of the new computer games. If you are going to carry out this installation yourself, the following are the steps you will need to take to get this done.
- You are going to have to install the drivers for your new graphics card but before doing that you will have to uninstall the drivers for your old card first.
- You need to make sure that you shut down your computer. Completely unplug your computer from the electricity supply after it has finished powering down.
- It is better to remove all the cables from the back of the computer so that you can see what you are doing. Remove the PCI Express cables. You have to be able to see the motherboard.
- The old graphics card should be removed. Do not discard this card as you may be able to use it again some time in the future. You will have to be careful when you put it away so that you don’t damage it or you won’t be able to use it again.
- It is easier if you attach the PCI power cables to the new card before installing it so you should do this.
- Position the new card and then plug in all the cables again.
- To make sure everything is working the way it should, you should turn on your computer. If you have done everything right then you will be able to get the most out of your new graphics card.
It is not difficult to install a graphics card provided you follow the instructions. Some people will attempt to do the switch without unplugging the device but this is not advised because you risk electrocution. Never leave this step out because you are too lazy to pull out the switch.
