What is the best Playstation 3?
The Playstation 3, or PS3 is was released on November 11, 2006 in Japan, November 17, 2006 in North America, March 16, 2007 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It was a predecessor to the popular Playstation 2 and the next in line of Sony’s Playstation series. The general competition to the PS3 is the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii and is a part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.
The PlayStation 3 is convex on its left side, with the PlayStation logo upright, when vertical (the top side is convex when horizontal) and has a glossy black finish. PlayStation designer Teiyu Goto stated that the Spider-Man-font-inspired logo “was one of the first elements SCEI president Ken Kutaragi decided on and the logo may have been the motivating force behind the shape of PS3″
The PlayStation 3 features a slot-loading 2x speed Blu-ray Disc drive for games, Blu-ray movies, DVDs, CDs and other optical media.
The PS3 has a wide range of connectivity and system capabilities. With the first wave of PS3′s coming with backwards capabilities of PS2 games and Memory stick, SD/MMC and compact flash/micromedia drive readers, this has been discontinued on the Slim models, but all models have Bluetooth 2.0 supporting up to 7 bluetooth devices, including controllers and headsets. The PS3 also includes gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and HDMI 1.4, and wifi networking all built into the console.
Sony Redesigned, Re-branded and released a slim version of the Playstation 3, calledPS3 slim. The Slim is now the only PS3 console in production and comes in a range of 120 GB, 160 GB, 250 GB or 320 GB sized hard drives. The slim is 33% smaller, 36% lighter and consumes 34% less power, and was released in September of 2009. The PS3 Slim sold in excess of 1 million units in the first 3 weeks of release. In 2010 new releases of the PS3 slim with different sized hard drives, 160 GB, and a hefty 320 GB
