Michael Jackson The Experience Wii

The Wii Platform just has to be the best for dance games in my opinion. At the moment Wii Zumba Fitness is my favorite, but that was before Michael Jackson arrived on the Wii! In fact, at the risk making you all very sick, they fit like a hand in a beautifully sequined glove, a very cheap looking version of which you get with the game!

Marketing gimmick or just fun, I’m not sure, but there’s no way the glove gets anywhere near to fitting me. I know they have to do these things but the disclaimer not to use the glove during game play did amuse me…yes I know if you did wear the glove that Wii remote is more likely to slip out, but…wear the wrist band!

So, what’s the game like? Well the first thing I’d have to say is that Michael Jackson and gameland are just such a great fit. And I don’t think anyone would argue about the uniqueness of what MJ produced. As I said though, the Wii platform really brings this heady mix together so wonderfully well. I think the test of a good game is how easy it is to get playing and how quickly you can become reasonably proficient. MJ the Experience passes on all levels as you’ll be dancing and singing along very quickly. And, it really is a great feeling once you’re up and dancing.

Unfortunately (although understandably) Michael himself is not in the game. However the makers have been very sensitive to Michael’s legacy and Wii Michael Jackson The Experience is very true to his spirit which just pours out from every track.

Clearly the makers have used top dancers used to replicate MJ’s moves and in my opinion, what you see on the screen and the moves you end up making truly capture the Michael Jackson spirit.

You can’t see the Dancer’s faces in the graphics as they’re washed out, but, once you’re caught up in the experience, it’s so easy to imagine you’re up there on stage with the real MJ dancing and singing along. There has been a great attention to detail in the making of Wii Michael Jackson The Experience and well done to UBI Soft on that front.

The game is simply Michael Jackson, so essentially Michael Jackson.

It all comes together to offer a real tailored MJ experience straight out of his epic videos. Everything is just so absolutely, essentially Michael. There are few other artists (alive or dead) who have enough quality material to bring together a game such as this. I think it is the unique mix of music and dance that make MJ so distinct and allow a game like this to be made…it is a unique and heady mix.

And something else that stands Michael apart is the way his dance moves have become part of modern culture. You see his moves everywhere. Across the dance floors of the world to X-Factor and America’s Got Talent. The name moonwalk was invented to describe the iconic MJ dance move, that along with his amazing spins and twists, jumps and turns are seen in a growing band of performers influenced by the great man.

Of course, playing a game of this nature also gives you a real workout as well, so you can get fitter as you have fun. I always find having fun helps take the pain of exercise away! All the moves are planned out well, easy to understand and learn, so it doesn’t take long to get into the game and to be playing effectively. Again, I like games that you can get into quickly. MJ The Experience on Wii will have you dancing around singing along very quickly indeed!

Boogie on the Sunshine!

Up to 4 people can play with a basic Wii remote, which I think is great and good value. You can see the images along the left side of the screen this allows you to cue your moves, and you also get a points tally which ticks over as you complete dance moves correctly .

The nearer you are to making the correct move the more points you will get, although you will get points for simply dancing (again I like that). You get extra points for accuracy as well. When a song finishes all your points are changed into stars and as you get more stars new levels are opened up to you. There are three dance tutors I think I recognized Travis Payne but not the others.

You can dance as one of the troupe or as Michael himself. I like the fact this offers more variation to the game.

Overall, Wii Michael Jackson the Experience is an oustanding game that truly captures the essence of what Michael Jackson was all about. If you love his music and his dance routines, you will absolutely love this game. But even if you’re not a MJ fan, this game is still amazing fun.

It’s got everything this game, excitement, fun and emotion…and it’s totally exhausting! And that’s an interesting point. Michael was about to go on a long tour and to perform routines like this he would have had to have been in the peak of fitness. This seems to make his loss even sadder…and such a shame his fans never got to see the new show. Maybe, just maybe in some small way, Wii Michael Jackson the Experience can make up for that…a little bit? Come what may it’s a glowing tribute to the King of Pop and will help us to remember him at his stunning best.
