On the other hand, you should be aware of a few technical issues when it comes to backing up games. You cannot just rip and copy Wii games like you can an ordinary music CD. The process is more akin to ripping DVDs, wherein you must get past the DRM encryption. Manufacturers of video games put heavy encryption onto video game CDs, so that you they can prevent anyone from trying to make copies of games and selling them on Ebay.

These encryptions are completely legal. However, it’s just as legal for you to remove the encryption. The encryption might thwart the average user from trying to make copies, but they can’t stop someone who is determined to make a go of it!

So to assist those persons in the world that don’t wish to damage their masters, application software companies have invented applications that can accomplish this task in a prompt manner, and also quite easily.
