How to Copy Wii Games

If you aren’t making backups of your Wii games, then every day that you use them, you are risking loss or damage or those precious discs. When you learn how to copy Wii games, you are investing in the life of your discs. Making backups is the only method that is 100% effective for preventing a complete loss if something happens to the master disc. If you follow the simple process for creating backups (below), you will not only be preserving your game date, you will also be saving yourself loads of money, time, and aggravation over the long haul.

Here’s What You Do:

1) You will need hardware to do the burning. Duh! The best thing to do is to find a DVD-ROM or DVD burner that is known to be compatible with Wii disc formats. A great one that I personally recommend is the LG-6897M. A few others that are a few dollars cheaper are the LG-9222X and the LG-8163B. You absolutely must have the correct drive. If you purchase a drive that is incompatible, you will not be able to complete the rest of these instructions! So once you have it, go ahead and install it physically, then install drivers as necessary. Done with that part? Good. Let’s move on. Use your favorite search engine to find these pieces of software: 1)Microsoft .Net Framework 2)RawDump 3)WinZip. Download and install them. Just hit install, then take all of the default settings.

2nd: Insert your Wii game into the LG drive you installed. Once the game is in the drive, double click the “Rawdump” folder on your desktop. After the folder has opened, double click the Rawdump.exe icon to initiate the process.

Third:The file that you just executed, Rawdump.exe, will open, give you a gui interface. Find the button that says “Start Dump” and click it. Go and grab a soda or a beer, because this process can take awhile (up to 2 hours).

Ok: What movie did you watch? Was it any good? Anyway, I’ll assume that that process from step 3 has completed. We’re going to need to look at the size of a file that the process created as a means of verifying the processes integrity. Here’s what you do: You remember that folder on the desktop or in “all programs” that contained RawDump.exe? Open that folder back up. You should now see a file inside that folder with the name of the game that you put into the DVD hardware in your PC. It should end in “.ISO”. Right click that bad boy, and hit “properties”. It should say somewhere that it’s 4.37 GB or the equivalent in KB. If it isn’t exactly 4.37 GB, then something went wrong, and you’ll need to delete that file and then go back and repeat step 3.

Next) Ok, we’re close to being done. I’m going to assume that you have some kind of DVD burning software. It might have come with your DVD burner. If not, grab a trial version of Nero, or try a freeware utility like IMGburn. Open up this software, and select “burn disc”. When prompted for what file to burn to disc, select that ISO file that we verified in the last step. Choose the slowest burn speed to mitigate the risk of errors in the burn process.

That’s it! You should now have a copy of your game!
