Gaming Laptops Provide Good Traction
Many gaming laptops use a lot of plastic and you would think for as much as it costs some metal alloys would be used. However, the use of plastics doesn’t keep the weight down on most of them. Many have rather bland styling that some people will like it while other people won’t.
Most of these machines comes with a 15.6″ display that is backlit and available in 900p and usually have 1080p resolutions. Theses displays suffer somewhat from the reflections from the glossy surface of the display bit it does help to bring the colors to life. However, the display itself is usually beautiful. The contrast and brightness on most machines are excellent and it is very enjoyable to play video games and watch HD videos. The horizontal viewing angles are usually almost perfect and the rest are above average. These machines usually have the better quality displays. Many have high resolution with more than 1000 pixels of vertical space.
Some have two speakers above the keyboard. Most don’t have much in the way of bass and are the usual speakers that are found in laptop computers. The best way to enjoy audio is by using one of most laptop’s many audio out options, such as a headphone jack, S/PDIF, and HDMI.
These computers have a separate numeric keypad on its full sized keyboard. Many offer an island styled keyboard that offers significantly more spacing because the keys are raised above the keyboard surface. The keyboard is relatively quiet if typed upon lightly and unless considerable pressure id used it has no flex. However, the direct action of the keys makes precision touch typing possible although the keyboard is made from plastic. Some of the keyboard don’t have a rubbery feel at all and actually feels harder than some people may be used to. The keyboard is great for gaming because the keys have sufficient resistance to permit your fingers to rest on them without depressing them. Unlike glossy keys, the key’s matte surfaces on most of these laptops provide good traction.
Some machines have the disadvantage of having a keyboard is that it doesn’t have a dedicated page down, page up, and home, key, which are usually part of the secondary functions in the arrow keys. They can exist as dedicated keys if number lock is disabled, but then the number pad doesn’t work. Many have the number pad with all of the standard keys although, it there may only be a three column layout rather than the standard four column layout.
Some have a matte surface on the touch pad that makes it easy to track on with both damp and dry fingers. They might also have is a scroll zone on the right side of the touch pad. The buttons are separated by the fingerprint reader, register with a quiet, distinctive click.
Some machines have many output and input ports, such as eSATA, DVI P, and HDMI.
