COUNTER-STRIKE DEATH MATCH Popular First Person Shooter Computer Game

The popular Counter Strike Death Match (CSDM) is a fast-paced first person shooter computer game that forms part of the wider Counter Strike series. Games in the portfolio include CS Source and CS twisted Death Match. The latest 2.1 version was recently released as a fix for major known bugs with spectator problems, re-spawning issues, API shortcomings plus creation of spawn points.

The game focuses on the modern phenomenon of terrorism in the current contemporary world. Players are cast as terrorists battling with good-guy anti-terrorists. The first person shooter or lead player navigates other players into an amazingly realistic set of nail-biting situations or missions including hostage taking and retrieval, prison escapes, assassinations and interrogations. Part of the appeal of the game is the stark good guy-bad guy dichotomy that has transcended story telling through the ages.

The game may be played by one or many players. The multi-player option maxs out at twenty players. Multiple warriors can band together into one team to battle on missions collaboratively or fight each other as individual warriors.

Counter-Strike Death Match is complicated in its historical origins and development. It first came to life as closed source software written by a developer different to the team that developed it as open source. That closed source product had limited success. It did not attract many gamers. It is commonly referred to as CS dm to identify it as closed source.

The open source version is very popular and is downloadable for free. It comes as an AMX Mod X plug-in set for a personal computer that adds Death Match style gameplay to Counter-Strike Version 1.6 and Condition Zero. The main source code remains resident on a remote server. An Internet connection is therefore required for online play.

The open source version is the creation of the combined efforts of BAILOPLAN (David Anderson), freecode (Mike Vvedenskiy) and faluco (Borja Ferrer). The first release was launched January 2004. The game quickly became viral among gamers globally. It currently resides on about one thousand servers located around the world.

Counter Strike Source was initially distributed by Valve Corporation. The Counter-Strike Source version for personal computer is a remake of the original game. It employs the Source game engine, that being the exact same engine used in Half-Life 2, another game by Valve Corp.

Valve Corp is a video game developer founded during 1996 and based in Bellevue, Washington USA. It attracted worldwide attention when, in November 1998, it released its first game called Half-Life. It popularized the first-person shooter (FPS) concept for action games. This concept is the term used for the genre of video games where gameplay is focused on weapon-based battles as viewed by combatant protagonists.

CSDM has many important enhancements and features including a range of configurable weapon options; the blocking of round re-starts; automatic deletion of old weapons; and weapons that are blockable. And, importantly, it is free and open source.

CSDM is an action-packed computer game that is growing in popularity. For more details about the no cost Counter Strike Death Match game see the website at http://www.thesgl.com/forums/topic/441885/ .
