Beginners guide to the Auction House

Dear players, this guide is made in the purpose of helping you out when it comes to the economy in World of Warcraft. You will be able to learn how to use the all mighty Auction House and how to make the best purchase and bargain. Let’s start with the Auction House itself.

The players of mmorpgs are also envious of the WoW’s Auction House as it is the best solution for the players. Auction Houses are also abbreviated as AHs and they can be located in the capital cities according to the old map of Azeroth: Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, and Exodar on the Aliance side and Undercity, Thunderbluff, Orgimmar, and Silvermoon City for the Horde side.

Use of the Auction House

As soon as you get to the AH, you need to click on one of the Auctioneers. You can search through the categories of items and goods that are located at the left side. The enlisted sub-categories make your search easier when you click on the Weapons as an example. The upper frame indicates a text box that shows Name, Level – Range and also a drop down menu that says All. Once you click the All tab, you could specify your search as poor, common, uncommon, rare or epic items according to your quality of the item that you search for. If you want to search through all, you need to click on the Search button that is located at the right side by leaving it as it is. Since there are so many items on the AH, searching through all items is not a good idea as there are chances of losing. Type the exact name of the item that you desired for in the Name text box and click on Search, and you will come across the current list of all available items shown by the AH. The link given at the down side will help you in going to the next page/pages.

There is an option to see how an item would look on you i.e. armor and weapons. Hold CTRL key and left click on the item and you will be able to see it. This option is popularly called “the dressing room”. When buying an item you should make sure to check its price. The Buyout price is the maximum price and by selecting an item and clicking on the Buyout button located at the bottom of the AH window you will be able to purchase an item right away.

You can bid on the item as soon as you see the first price. You can bid by clicking on the Bid button which is present at the bottom of the AH window. Obviously, you can bid on an item for the cheaper price, but don’t forget that there are other players also who will do the same, and so it will be a long chase. In case a bid is taken from you that you have bidden on the amount of gold and if somebody outbids you, you are returned the same amount on your mail. On the contrary, if you succeeded in buying the item without being outbidden, then the item will be sent to you via mail as soon as the particular auction expires.

While selling the item, you can click on the Auctions tab that is located on the left side at the bottom of the AH window. You can check the length of your Auction duration by placing the item in the Auction item slot and filling up the Starting price and the Buyout price. For the short duration, you can put 12 hours, while for the long auction you can put 24 hours and for the very long auction 48 hours too. For making your own auction, you are advised to check for the prices on the given item and put your price by lowering a little bit. The AH will apply a small percentage of fee when the item is sold, and thereby you will get the gold on your email. Unless the item is sold, you will be returned of your fee as the auction expires.

You could always monitor your bids and auctions by clicking on the Bids and Auctions tabs.
